Plan International Bangladesh selected as social norms agency for EARN project

The partnership will focus on barriers limiting rural women’s access to skills training and jobs, supporting EARN’s target of employment opportunities for 900,000 youth.

Plan International Bangladesh has been selected as the Social Norms Specialised Agency for the Economic Acceleration and Resilience for NEET Project, known as EARN, under Bangladesh’s Department of Youth Development.

An agreement formalising the partnership was signed on 16 July at the EARN Project conference room between the project and Plan International Bangladesh.

The agreement was signed by Kobita Bose, Country Director of Plan International Bangladesh, and Kazi Mokhlesur Rahman, Project Director of the EARN Project. Senior officials and consultants from both organisations attended the signing ceremony.

As the Social Norms Specialised Agency, Plan International Bangladesh is expected to support the project’s wider goal of creating employment opportunities for 900,000 young people.

Its interventions will focus on identifying and addressing social norms, gender stereotypes and other barriers that hinder women’s participation in skills development training and employment opportunities in rural communities.

The project aims to help create a more inclusive environment where young people can build skills, unlock their potential and shape a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
