Organisers say the Kathmandu session sought to build newsroom understanding of climate change, gender sensitivity and justice, with Sancharika Samuha Nepal planning similar programmes across all seven provinces.
A training programme on climate change, gender sensitivity and climate justice was held for women journalists in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, organisers said.
The programme was organised by Sancharika Samuha Nepal, with more than 20 women journalists from Bagmati Province taking part.
Kamala Panthi, chairperson of Sancharika Samuha Nepal, said the training aimed to enhance women journalists’ understanding of climate change, gender sensitivity and climate justice.
“We will organize similar training programs in all seven provinces of the country,” she said.
The training was supported by the Australian Embassy in Nepal.
Sancharika Samuha Nepal, a forum of women journalists and communicators, was established in April 1996.
