Marking World Environment Day on June 05, the Human Safety Foundation (HSF) launched a simultaneous tree plantation campaign across five districts in Bangladesh—Bogura, Narail, Manikganj, Habiganj, and Mymensingh.
The central program was inaugurated Thursday afternoon in Goshaibari Union, Bogura, by HSF’s Chief Executive Md. Borhanul Ashekin. As part of the initiative, a variety of fruit-bearing, timber, and medicinal trees were planted, with active participation from officials of HSF’s Access to Primary Health Care project.
“Trees are our best friends,” Ashekin said during the inauguration. “But we are cutting them down recklessly and failing to replant in equal numbers. This imbalance is harming nature.” He emphasized the critical role trees play in addressing climate change and called on citizens to prioritize tree planting in their communities.
The campaign encouraged local residents, volunteers, and environmental advocates to engage in greening efforts, reflecting HSF’s commitment to sustainability and climate action.
