Manusher Jonno Foundation organized a lecture on just energy transition for media professionals in Dhaka on July 21, bringing together 15 journalists from print, electronic and online outlets to discuss climate change, decarbonization and the implications of the global transition for Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector.
The Comprehensive Lecture on Just Energy Transition (JET) for Media Professionals was held under the Fashion Forward: Promoting a Just Transition for RMG Workers project, funded by Oxfam Bangladesh.
The event focused on deepening journalists’ understanding of Just Energy Transition, climate change, decarbonization and the potential impact of the global low-carbon shift on Bangladesh’s RMG sector.
Participants joined expert-led presentations and interactive discussions on the media’s role in promoting informed public discourse and amplifying workers’ perspectives in the transition process.
The Fashion Forward project aims to promote a worker-centred, inclusive and equitable Just Energy Transition in Bangladesh’s RMG sector by strengthening awareness, fostering dialogue and supporting policy advocacy.
The project seeks to ensure that the shift to a low-carbon economy protects workers’ rights and livelihoods while advancing climate goals.
