Youth People of Bangladesh announces Sandwip committee for 2026–27

Youth People of Bangladesh has formed its Sandwip committee for 2026–27, aiming to strengthen youth engagement, climate action and community development in the coastal region.

Youth People of Bangladesh, a youth-led volunteer organisation promoting youth empowerment, social responsibility and environmental awareness across Bangladesh, has announced a new executive committee for its Sandwip upazila, in Chattogram District, for the 2026–2027 term, aiming to strengthen youth development and community initiatives.

The volunteer organisation said the newly formed committee will focus on expanding its work on youth empowerment, community engagement and climate-related activities in the coastal region.

According to the announcement, the committee will be led by President Md Rakib, with Athora Jannat Safi serving as Vice President and Md Sakib as General Secretary. Jannatul Mawa has been appointed Organising Secretary while Faria Akter will serve as Treasurer.

Other key पदs include Moniratut Tohera Tabassum as Environment Affairs Secretary, Saiful Islam Jihad as Climate and Sustainable Development Secretary and Ifte Hazar Ipas as Awareness and Campaign Secretary. Md Rabbyul Mawla will take on the role of Waste Management Coordinator, Sharmeen Sultana as ICT and Media Secretary and Md Nurul Haider Nahin as Youth Coordinator.

The executive committee also includes members Sanzida Sultana Lamia and Abu Hasnat Siam.

The organisation extended congratulations to all newly appointed members, expressing hope that their leadership, dedication and enthusiasm will make its activities more dynamic and effective.

It said the new committee is expected to play a significant role in youth empowerment, social development and strengthening community participation.

In a statement, the organisation said it plans to undertake more innovative initiatives, drive positive change and expand welfare-oriented programmes under the new leadership.

SidratuI Muntaha, founder and chief executive of Youth People of Bangladesh, said the organisation is placing top priority on environmental and climate-focused activities to help build a responsible and aware youth community in Sandwip.

“If the strength of young people is properly utilised, it is possible to build a sustainable and better future,” she said.

She added that the organisation has already been working in Chattogram city on environmental conservation, awareness building and various social development activities.

Referring to river erosion in Sandwip, she said the suffering of people living along riverbanks remains a major concern for the organisation. She reaffirmed their commitment to raising awareness, conducting support activities and working towards sustainable solutions.

She expressed optimism that collective efforts and active participation of young people can bring positive change in Sandwip as well as other parts of the country.
