Youth leadership and climate literacy workshop held in Bangladesh

Young participants explored climate literacy, sustainable lifestyles and environmental action while strengthening leadership skills to support youth-led efforts toward a greener and more sustainable Bangladesh.

A daylong workshop on youth leadership and climate literacy was held on Monday at Azim-Hakim School & College in Khowajnagar, Azimpara, Karnaphuli, Chittagong, Bangladesh, bringing young people together to discuss climate awareness, environmental protection and youth-led initiatives for positive social change.

The workshop was organised by Youth People of Bangladesh (YPB) with support from Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), with the aim of developing youth leadership, increasing awareness of climate change and encouraging young people to take an active role in environmental protection.

Discussions and exchanges during the day covered youth leadership and empowerment, climate literacy, environmental awareness, sustainable lifestyles, green activities and youth-led initiatives aimed at creating positive change in society and the country.

Manjurul Alam, head teacher of the higher secondary section of Azim Hakim School and College, attended the event.

Also present were Sidratul Muntaha, CEO and founder of YPB, members of the organisation’s executive board and general members. Their participation contributed to the discussions and activities at the workshop, according to the organisers.

The workshop was held on August 17, 2026, at 10:00 am at Azim Hakim School and College.

The organisers said today’s aware young people would be the builders of a green and sustainable Bangladesh, stressing the importance of awareness in developing leadership and of young people in climate action.

The event was organised under the theme of empowering young people, protecting the planet and building a sustainable future.
