Writ that sought Saint Martin’s travel restriction withdrawal binned

Saint Martin inhabitant Abdul Malik filed the plea on November 18

The High Court (HC) has scrapped a writ petition that pleaded to withdraw government restriction on tourists traveling to Saint Martin’s to help protect the island’s environment.

The bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Mubina Asaf passed the order after holding a hearing on Tuesday.

Saint Martin inhabitant Abdul Malik filed the petition November 18.

Earlier, on October 28, the government asked officials concerned including Cox’s Bazar deputy commissioner to implement a set of decisions to tackle uncontrolled tourism and use of single used plastic in the island.
