Sohanur for increased climate finance, supporting the vulnerable

Adding his voice to the ensemble from diverse regions and frontline communities at the COP29

Sohanur Rahman – the executive coordinator at YouthNet Global – is joining the official Bangladesh delegation at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan from 11-22 November 2024, advocating for increased climate finance and a just transition for vulnerable communities.

He will add his voice to the ensemble from diverse regions and frontline communities, with a strong commitment to advancing climate finance, adaptation, just transition, and gender equity on the global stage.

In the early weeks of October this year, the Bangladeshi young climate justice and human rights activist was named one of the five laureates of the prestigious Young Activists Summit (YAS) 2024.

The event, co-organised by dev.tv, United Nations Office at Geneva, Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS), and Geneva Graduate Institute, highlights outstanding young leaders working on sustainability and human rights initiatives.

Sohanur, a 27-year-old, was recognised for his work in promoting climate action and democratic participation in Bangladesh, according to the organiser’s website www.youngactivistssummit.org.

Sohanur’s participation in this prestigious event solidifies his status as a leading youth activist, not just in Bangladesh but globally, as he continues to champion climate action and democratic reforms.

His recognition at that summit underscores his contributions to the global climate movement and the importance of youth engagement in tackling the climate crisis.
