A deer that strayed into a residential area in Manpura, Bhola was rescued with local help and safely released into a protected forest, reflecting growing public awareness in wildlife conservation.
A deer that strayed into a residential area in Manpura of Bhola was rescued on Tuesday with help from local residents and later released into a protected forest, forest officials said.
The animal was recovered in the morning from the Battir Khal area of South Sakuchia under the Manpura Range and was released back into the nearby protected Char Patalia forest in the afternoon.
According to the Forest Department, the deer had become trapped near geo bags in the area. A group of local residents first spotted the animal while walking along the riverbank. They rescued the deer and informed forest officials.
After receiving the information, forest guards from the Pacha Koralia Beat rushed to the scene and took the deer into custody.
Forest workers carried out an initial health check and found the animal to be in good condition. There were no signs of injury or illness, officials said.
The deer was later released into the protected Char Patalia forest adjacent to Pacha Koralia.
“We went to the spot immediately after receiving the information and rescued the deer. It was later released in a safe environment,” said Sajib Sarkar, officer of the Pacha Koralia Beat.
Manpura Range Officer Rasedul Islam said people living around the protected forest area had become much more aware.
“They now inform the Forest Department instead of harming wild animals when they see them. This is a very positive sign,” he said. “If such public cooperation continues, the animals of the forest will remain safer.”
