DawnMedia CVF-V20 partner to accelerate climate investment in Pakistan

CVF-V20 and DawnMedia sign MoU to mobilise climate investment, strengthen advocacy and drive action in Pakistan through Breathe Pakistan, linking policy, finance and global leadership efforts for vulnerable nations worldwide.

The Climate Vulnerable Forum and the Vulnerable Twenty Group of Finance Ministers (CVF-V20) Secretariat has signed a memorandum of understanding with DawnMedia to advance climate action, mobilise investment and strengthen global climate advocacy in Pakistan.

The agreement brings together CVF-V20’s international mandate on climate finance with DawnMedia’s Breathe Pakistan initiative, a flagship platform focused on climate change awareness. The collaboration aims to connect policy, investment and public engagement while supporting the implementation of Pakistan’s Climate Prosperity Plan.

Under the partnership, Breathe Pakistan will serve as a central platform for outreach and implementation, with plans to host investment-focused sessions across the country. These efforts are designed to accelerate practical climate action and help translate national climate goals into tangible projects.

Both sides said the initiative would focus on building investable pipelines and encouraging capital inflows to support climate-resilient development.

A major component of the collaboration will be joint efforts to strengthen global climate leadership. The partners plan to use the Second International Climate Change Conference, scheduled for April 22 and 23, 2026, as a platform to highlight the priorities of climate-vulnerable nations.

The conference is expected to play a strategic role in shaping global climate governance and advancing solutions tailored to the needs of vulnerable economies.

As part of the agreement, CVF-V20 and Breathe Pakistan will also organise investor sessions, high-level dialogues and multi-stakeholder engagements to sustain momentum.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hamza Haroon, Regional Director for South and West Asia at CVF-V20, said climate-vulnerable countries face a gap in delivery rather than planning.

“We must move beyond talk shows to execution, beyond reports collecting dust towards projects collecting cheques. With the Pakistan Climate Prosperity Plan in place, the task now is clear: convert climate ambition into investable pipelines, crowd in capital at scale and deliver on this unified national strategy. This partnership with Dawn is a testament to that shift!” he said.

Nazafreen Saigol Lakhani, CEO of Dawn, said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to turning climate awareness into measurable outcomes.

“At Dawn, we believe climate action must move beyond awareness to tangible outcomes. Through Breathe Pakistan, we are committed to creating platforms that not only elevate critical conversations but also catalyse investment, partnerships and policy momentum. This collaboration with CVF-V20 reflects our shared ambition to position Pakistan as a leader among climate-vulnerable nations by connecting ideas to action and ambition to execution,” she said.
