Climate seminar highlights Bangladesh’s response to climate change

Officials and development partners discussed collaborative approaches to tackling climate impacts, with Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation and FAO highlighting their roles during the event hosted by the Department of Environment.

A seminar on climate change mitigation was held in Dhaka on July 14 as part of Bangladesh’s observance of World Environment Day 2026, bringing together government officials and international partners to discuss measures to address the impacts of climate change.

The seminar, titled “Our responsibilities in mitigating the impacts of climate change: The role of Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)”, was organised at the auditorium of the Department of Environment under a joint initiative of the Department of Environment, Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, additional secretary at Bangladesh’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, attended the event as the chief guest.

The seminar was chaired by Marzia Shawkat Ali, director of Climate Change and International Convention at the Department of Environment.
