Senior officials reviewed Bangladesh’s diplomatic and policy priorities ahead of COP31, with emphasis on coordination between environment and foreign affairs authorities.
Bangladesh held an inter-ministerial meeting on Thursday to coordinate its position on environmental, climate change and biodiversity issues in multilateral forums, including the country’s participation in the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31).
The meeting was held between Bangladesh’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with discussions focused on the country’s position in relevant multilateral forums and the participation of the Bangladeshi delegation at COP31.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo, State Minister Sheikh Faridul Islam and Foreign Affairs State Minister Shama Obaid Islam attended the meeting.
Also present were Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr Mohammad Saimum Parvez, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr Fahmida Khanam and Additional Secretary Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, along with senior officials from the two ministries.
