A sick black-faced langur was found at a Satkhira hospital, prompting locals to seek Forest Department intervention for its rescue and treatment.
A sick black-faced langur walked into a community hospital in Satkhira, southwestern Bangladesh, on Monday morning, apparently seeking treatment.
The langur was spotted at around 11:00 am at Islamic Bank Community Hospital at Narikel Tola intersection in Satkhira town while it was in an unwell condition. It was repeatedly seen falling asleep at the hospital reception.
The black-faced langur is found in Keshabpur and Manirampur upazilas of neighbouring Jashore district. Food shortages and declining tree cover have prompted groups of the langurs to leave the area and move to different parts of Bangladesh, according to local residents.
Local people have drawn the attention of the Forest Department to the sick langur. They have called for the animal to be rescued and taken to a safe location where it can receive medical treatment.
No comment was available from the Satkhira Forest Department regarding the matter.
