NSTU, CAPS sign MoU on air pollution study

NSTU and CAPS sign a five-year MoU to collaborate on air pollution research, campus monitoring, clean air initiatives, joint studies and environmental awareness programmes in Noakhali over the next years.

Noakhali Science and Technology University, a public university in the coastal terrain Noakhali of Bangladesh, signed a five year memorandum of understanding with the Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies on Sunday to strengthen cooperation on air pollution control environmental protection and academic research.

The MoU was signed at the vice chancellor’s conference room of the university with Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ismail signing on behalf of the university and CAPS Chairman Professor Dr Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumdar representing the research organisation.

The agreement aims to improve research quality while supporting initiatives to curb air pollution and promote environmental conservation according to officials present at the ceremony.

Among those attending were Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Rezwanul Haque Treasurer Professor Dr Mohammad Hanif Murad Science Faculty Dean Professor Dr Mohammad Mohinuzzaman Acting Registrar Mohammad Tamjid Hossain Chowdhury CAPS lead researcher Marziat Rahman and communication adviser Abdullah Hasan.

Under the deal a Clean Air Club will be formed at the university and an air quality monitoring device will be installed on campus for one year with technical support from CAPS.

The partnership will also facilitate joint national and international research projects thesis supervision and environmental awareness programmes throughout the five year term of the agreement.
