COP31 partnership, side event applications close August 14

Applications for partnerships and side events at the COP31 United Nations climate summit will close on August 14, organisers announced. From July 01, 2026 the application has been opened, said COP31 presidency.

COP31 will take place in the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya from November 9 to 20, bringing together governments, international organisations, businesses, researchers and civil society groups for two weeks of climate negotiations and related events.

Türkiye will host the summit under the leadership of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum, the COP31 president-designate. The partnership programme invites ministries, municipalities, civil society organisations, universities, private companies and other institutions to propose non-financial contributions to the conference’s Green Zone.

Proposals may include exhibition spaces, stands in the Türkiye Pavilions, project showcases, research and knowledge products, training sessions and cultural programmes. Organisers said submitting an expression of interest would not guarantee selection, space allocation, speaking opportunities, accreditation or official partnership status. The partnership process is not intended for sponsorship, financial contributions, commercial promotion or branding requests, according to the application guidelines. Separate applications are open for events at the Blue Zone Türkiye Pavilion, where organisations can present practical climate solutions, implementation experience, policy proposals, financing models, technologies and capacity-building initiatives to an international audience. Proposed side events should be conducted in English and designed for a 60-minute format, with up to five participants, including the moderator. Organisers said international participation, civil society representation and gender balance would strengthen applications.

Public institutions, local governments, international organisations, financial institutions, philanthropies, universities, think tanks, youth and media organisations, businesses and civil society groups are eligible to apply. Applicants may also submit an optional concept note in PDF or Word format. Successful applicants will be responsible for their own travel, accommodation and logistical expenses, while event approval will not automatically provide access credentials for COP31. Applications for both programmes must be submitted through the respective official COP31 online portals by August 14, 2026.
