Supported by national and international partners, the response includes standardised relief packages and cash support, with separate livelihood assistance planned for families in the Haor region.
Caritas Bangladesh has reached more than 21,000 people from 4,328 severely affected families with emergency food, essential non-food items and multipurpose cash grants, the humanitarian organisation said.
The emergency assistance is also expected to cover 30,000 individuals from 6,244 more families across Bandarban, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar by this week, it said.
Caritas Bangladesh said all food and non-food item packages, multipurpose cash grants, and hygiene and dignity kits follow national standards set by the relevant clusters and working groups.
In the Haor region, 1,050 families will receive livelihood assistance aimed at helping them restore their livelihoods and strengthen recovery, the organisation said.
Caritas Bangladesh said the response was supported by Catholic Relief Services, Muslim Aid Bangladesh, the Start Bangladesh Hub, CAFOD, Caritas Australia, Caritas Internationalis, local government authorities, Church partners, volunteers and affected communities.
The organisation said the assistance was intended to deliver relief while helping affected people restore hope, dignity and the strength to rebuild.
