BRAC University climate centre signs MoU to boost youth climate action

BRAC University’s climate research centre has partnered with two youth-led organizations to strengthen climate action, research, advocacy and community-based solutions, empowering young people to lead resilience-building efforts across Bangladesh.

The Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER) at BRAC University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Greenman and Shurjodoy Youth Society to strengthen youth participation in climate action initiatives across Bangladesh.

The agreement formalizes a partnership between C3ER and the two youth-led platforms, which are actively engaged in promoting climate action and environmental awareness nationwide.

According to the organizations, the collaboration is aimed at empowering young changemakers by increasing youth engagement in climate research, policy advocacy and the development of inclusive, community-driven climate solutions.

The partners said the initiative reflects a shared vision of placing young people at the forefront of efforts to address climate challenges and build resilience in vulnerable communities.

Under the partnership, C3ER, Greenman and Shurjodoy Youth Society will work together to create opportunities for youth leadership and participation in climate-related programmes and initiatives.

The organizations said they envision a future in which young people are not only participants but also key partners in driving transformational change and advancing sustainable development goals in Bangladesh.

They noted that the climate crisis affects all segments of society, highlighting the importance of youth-led action in building a more resilient and sustainable future.

The three partners expressed optimism about working closely together to strengthen climate resilience and promote meaningful engagement of young people in environmental decision-making processes across the country.
