Abohawabid weather app launches on Android to deliver forecasts and alerts

Bangladesh’s weather platform abohawa.com has launched the Abohawabid Android app, offering forecasts and weather alerts nationwide to improve public preparedness, disaster awareness, and access to reliable weather information.

Bangladesh’s weather information platform abohawa.com has launched a new mobile application, “Abohawabid”, aimed at providing weather forecasts and critical weather-related alerts to people across the country.

The Android-based application was officially launched on Wednesday (June 10) following the introduction of the abohawa.com website, which was developed to make weather information more accessible to the public.

According to the developers, the “Abohawabid” app is designed to deliver reliable weather forecasts and important warning messages directly to users, helping communities prepare for natural disasters and adverse weather conditions.

The application is now available for free download through the Google Play Store for Android users.

Before its public release, around 100 volunteers from different districts of Bangladesh and various professional backgrounds tested the app over the past month, providing feedback during the trial phase.

The launch marks the culmination of a long-awaited initiative to expand access to weather information through mobile technology and strengthen public preparedness against weather-related risks.

The developers said the primary goal of the application is to ensure that dependable weather forecasts and warning information reach people at their doorsteps, particularly during periods of severe weather and natural disasters.

Seeking public support and goodwill for the initiative, Mostafa Kamal Palash, Chief Meteorologist of abohawa.com and the “Abohawabid” mobile app, expressed hope that the platform would serve as a useful tool for people across Bangladesh.
