The session focused on recognising snakes, preventing and treating bites, and safe rescue practices, followed by certificates and palm seedlings to support biodiversity and climate protection.
A training workshop on snakebite awareness and a tree-planting programme were held in Rajshahi on Tuesday as a joint initiative of the National Housing Authority and the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Forum.
The workshop was held at 4:30 pm at the conference room of the National Housing Authority in Rajshahi. Mohammad Sohel Sarker, executive engineer of the National Housing Authority’s Rajshahi Division, attended as the chief guest, while Morshed Mahmud Chowdhury, sub-divisional engineer of the authority in Rajshahi, was present as a special guest.
Engr chaired the event. Junaid Ahmed, founder and general secretary of the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Forum.
Md Jahangir Kabir, wildlife inspector with the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division in Rajshahi, conducted the training.
The session covered the identification of venomous and non-venomous snakes, prevention and treatment of snakebites, as well as snake rescue, handling and release.
After the training workshop, certificates and palm seedlings were distributed as support for climate and biodiversity protection. A total of 50 palm seedlings were also planted on the grounds of the Housing Estate Mosque.
