Journalists and content creators examined climate change, environmental degradation and rights violations, with sessions also focusing on investigative and environmental journalism.
A two-day training titled “Reporting on Climate Change, Environmental Degradation and Violation of Environmental Human Rights” was held at the conference room of the District Social Service Office in Rajshahi.
The training was organised under the ENGAGE project, implemented by DASCOH Foundation with funding from the European Union and NETZ Bangladesh.
Journalists and content creators are participating in the training.
The first day’s sessions were conducted by Abuzar, assistant professor of the Department of Communication and Journalism Studies at North Bengal University, Jahangir Alam, project director of DASCOH Foundation, and Ruhul Amin, project coordinator.
The sessions covered human rights, environmental human rights, environmental degradation in Rajshahi and what should be done to address it, climate change, reporting on environmental damage and human rights violations, issues of environmental journalism and investigative journalism.
The journalists highlighted issues of environmental human rights violations in the Rajshahi region and presented information on what can be done from their respective positions.
Technical Officer Tamanna Jebin, Area Officer Md. Tuhin Islam, Maksuda Khanam and Abu Yusuf were present as co-facilitators in the training.
