BYLC, YouthNet Global sign MoU on climate resilience

BYLC and YouthNet Global have signed an MoU to strengthen youth-led climate resilience, social equity and just transition efforts across Bangladesh through training, advocacy and community-based action nationwide initiatives programmes.

The Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) and YouthNet Global on Tuesday (30 December) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on climate resilience, social equity and just transition initiatives in Bangladesh.

The initiative comes at a critical time as Bangladesh faces increasing climate risks, including flooding, riverbank erosion and extreme temperatures. The signing ceremony highlighted the commitment of both institutions to youth-led climate solutions, sustainable development and just transition approaches that leave no one behind.

BYLC Executive Director Tahsinah Ahmed and Sohanur Rahman, Executive Coordinator of YouthNet Global, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

“By joining forces, we aim to equip young leaders with the skills and knowledge to tackle climate challenges while promoting inclusive and sustainable development,” said Tahsinah Ahmed.

Sohanur Rahman added, “This partnership will empower youth across Bangladesh to lead community-based initiatives that advance social equity, environmental justice and sustainable climate action.”

Under the MoU, both organizations plan to implement a series of training programs, workshops and community projects that foster youth leadership, climate-conscious practices and advocacy for social equity. The collaboration also emphasizes knowledge sharing, innovation and capacity building among local communities.

Present at the ceremony were Imtiaj Uddin Ahmed, Senior Manager, Grants Management and Business Development, BYLC; Samia Sayeti Binte Ali, Executive, Grants Management and Business Development, BYLC; Mohaiminul Islam Zipat, Environmental Justice and Sustainability Coordinator, YouthNet Global; Md. Ashikur Rahman, Barishal Divisional Coordinator, YouthNet Global; and Maria Akter Baby, Coordinator, Children and Adolescents Wing, YouthNet Global.

Established in 2003, BYLC is one of Bangladesh’s leading leadership development organizations, focusing on youth empowerment, professional skill-building and civic engagement. Over the years, BYLC has trained thousands of young people in leadership, communication and social impact initiatives across the country.

YouthNet Global is a youth-led organization committed to climate action, environmental justice and sustainable development. Since 2016, it has worked with young people, local communities and partners to promote awareness, advocacy and innovative solutions to climate change and social inequality. Its programs focus on empowering youth to actively participate in decision-making processes and lead sustainable development initiatives at local, national and global levels.
