The agreement comes as Bangladesh prepares EPR rules, with both companies aiming to build systems for industrial plastic and electronic waste aligned with sustainability standards.
BD Recycle Technologies Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Urmi Group to jointly work on responsible plastic and e-waste management, the companies said.
Under the agreement, BRTL will collect industrial plastic and electronic waste generated across Urmi Group’s operations and ensure it is disposed of and recycled in an environmentally responsible manner, in keeping with international sustainability standards.
The partnership comes as the Government of Bangladesh is in the process of introducing Extended Producer Responsibility regulations, which will require manufacturers and businesses to take greater accountability for the post-consumer disposal of their plastic and electronic products.
Industry stakeholders see the MoU as an early, practical step toward the upcoming EPR framework, helping both companies build the systems and processes needed to comply as the regulations come into effect.

Al-Mamun, Executive Director of BRTL, was also present on BRTL’s behalf. Urmi Group was represented by Ashraful Hossain, Chief Financial Officer and executives Shibly and Yusuf.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at Urmi Group’s office, where both organisations expressed optimism that the partnership would set a benchmark for responsible industrial waste management in Bangladesh.
