Bangladesh reviews SBs64 progress and COP31 priorities at UNFCCC meeting

Bangladesh’s delegation at UNFCCC SBs64 in Bonn reviewed negotiation progress, assessed COP31 preparedness and discussed strategies to advance national climate priorities through stronger international coordination and engagement.

Bangladesh’s delegation to the ongoing Subsidiary Bodies 64 (SBs64) session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) reviewed the country’s progress in the negotiations and discussed preparations for the upcoming COP31 climate conference during a coordination meeting held in Bonn on Tuesday.

The meeting took place at 12:00 p.m. local time in Room H-104 at the UNFCCC headquarters. Participants assessed Bangladesh’s achievements during the SBs64 session, examined the country’s positions across various negotiation tracks and reviewed its overall readiness for COP31.

Discussions also focused on strategies to effectively present Bangladesh’s priority issues at COP31, strengthen coordination with international partners and advance agendas linked to the country’s national interests within the global climate negotiation process.

Dr. Saimum Parvez, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Affairs, attended the meeting.

Members of the Bangladesh delegation also took part in the discussion and exchanged views on the ongoing climate negotiations and the country’s future course of action ahead of COP31.
