Amphibian Conservation Fund opens applications for global projects

The Stiftung Artenschutz Amphibian Fund is inviting applications for short-term conservation projects worldwide, offering grants for research, habitat protection and species management focused on threatened amphibians.

The Stiftung Artenschutz Amphibian Fund has opened applications for grants of up to €5,000 to support projects aimed at conserving threatened amphibian species worldwide, with submissions accepted until July 31, 2026.

The fund will provide financial support for projects that demonstrate a positive impact on threatened amphibians through direct and indirect conservation measures. Funding covers direct project costs, including equipment, transportation and staff.

Eligible projects must focus on species listed as Critically Endangered, Endangered or Vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. Projects involving Data Deficient or Not Evaluated species are also eligible if they aim to clarify the species’ threat status.

The fund will support direct conservation measures, habitat protection, species management, scientific research with direct conservation relevance, local capacity building and education.

Projects in the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia are not eligible. The fund also excludes projects that are likely to have negative effects on local or indigenous communities.

Applicants must submit a completed application form in English or German as a Word document, an up-to-date curriculum vitae, a document verifying the legal status of their non-governmental organisation and a reference letter sent directly by the referee to the foundation.

Applications should be submitted by email to [email protected].

Each project may receive up to €5,000, although partial funding is possible. Funded projects must not exceed 12 months from the planned start date.

The application deadline is 23:59 CET (UTC+2) on July 31, 2026.

More information about the funding opportunity is available at FIRE BIOFIN funding page.

Information on the application process is available at the Stiftung Artenschutz Amphibian Fund page.

Additional climate and biodiversity funding opportunities are available through the FIRE BIOFIN platform.
