Swiss envoy hosts talks on Bangladesh’s climate priorities before COP31

Government representatives, climate specialists and development practitioners exchanged views on strengthening international cooperation and shaping Bangladesh’s position on key climate issues before the COP31 negotiations.

Switzerland’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Reto Renggli, hosted a working breakfast at the Swiss Residence on Tuesday with Dr. Md. Saimum, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Environment, Forest and Climate Change, along with leading climate experts and development practitioners from the country.

The discussion focused on Bangladesh’s priorities and perspectives on climate finance, adaptation, resilience, capacity building and international climate negotiations, particularly ahead of the upcoming COP31.

According to the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, the meeting brought together government and climate stakeholders to exchange views on key issues related to climate action and international cooperation.

The embassy said Switzerland supports dialogue, collaboration and climate-resilient action.
