The Dhaka summit brings together young people and key stakeholders to strengthen participation, advance young women’s leadership and economic empowerment, and foster collaboration.
A two-day youth summit opened in Dhaka on Wednesday, bringing together young representatives from all eight divisions of Bangladesh alongside government officials, development partners, private sector representatives, women-led organizations and media representatives to discuss youth participation and leadership.
The 2-Day Youth Summit 2026, organized by Save the Children in Bangladesh to mark International Youth Day 2026 under the SWOCCHAR Project with support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is being held on 12-13 August at Aloki, 211 Tejgaon Link Road, Dhaka.
The first day began with an inaugural ceremony attended by Prof. Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain, MP, Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, as chief guest.
Jaouad Azaoui, First Secretary at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, delivered special remarks, while Suman Sengupta, Country Director of Save the Children in Bangladesh, delivered the welcome remarks.
The keynote speech was delivered by Lili Prue Marma, a youth leader from BNKS.
Roksana Sultana, Executive Director of Breaking the Silence, attended the inaugural ceremony along with the SWOCCHAR Project Focal Person, youth representatives from Breaking the Silence and the STEM Coordinator of the SCOPE Project.
The summit aims to provide a platform for young people to voice their concerns and strengthen their participation, with discussions also focusing on young women’s leadership and economic empowerment.
The event is also bringing young people and key stakeholders together for dialogue and collaboration over the two-day summit.
