YPSA to represent Bangladesh at COP30 on Climate Justice and Inclusion

A three-member delegation from Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) has departed for Belém, Brazil, to represent Bangladesh at COP30, where it will advocate for climate justice, loss and damage, gender equality, disability inclusion, and youth-led adaptation on the global stage

A three-member delegation from the Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) has left for Belém, Brazil, to participate in the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30). The global summit will bring together world leaders to negotiate stronger commitments on climate justice, adaptation, and finance.

The delegation is led by Dr. Md Arifur Rahman, Founder and Chief Executive of YPSA. Other members include Mohammad Shahjahan, Director of YPSA, and Afra Nawar, Youth Coordinator, according to a press release.

At COP30, YPSA will focus on advancing key priorities such as loss and damage justice, gender equality, disability inclusion, youth leadership, and community-based adaptation. The team will engage in side events, press conferences, and thematic discussions, sharing Bangladesh’s local lessons in resilience and inclusive climate action.

“Bangladesh is among the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world, but we are not just victims — we are also contributors to the solutions,” said Dr. Arifur Rahman before departing for Brazil. “Through our participation in COP30, we aim to strengthen inclusive climate action and ensure that no one is left behind.”

YPSA’s participation aims to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, promote disability-inclusive climate policies, and showcase how local adaptation initiatives in Bangladesh can inform global strategies for resilience and justice.

Founded in 1985, YPSA is a Chattogram-based sustainable development organization working on human rights, health, education, environmental conservation, and climate resilience across Bangladesh.
