A day-long workshop titled “Workshop on Green Skills for Industrial Climate Protection” was held at the Bangladesh-Korea Technical Training Centre (BKTTC) in Chattogram, aiming to enhance climate awareness and technical expertise among skilled professionals from various industries.
The event was organized by the Bangladesh Society of Welders (BSW) and featured participation from industry professionals, welders, fitters, and technicians from different factories across Chattogram. The Climate Watch, dedicated climate and environmental news platform extended full technical cooperation for the event.
Empowering green industry practices
Speaking at the workshop, Abhijit Das Gupta, Assistant Manager of BSRM Rolling Mills-1, attended as the chief guest. Imran Chowdhury, Welding Trade Instructor at BKTTC and chief patron of the Society, was the special guest. Other notable guests included Md. Wazed Ali, Welding Instructor at BKTTC, and Md. Elias Kanchan, National Certified Trainer and Assessor.
During the sessions, participants discussed the crucial role of industrial workers in shaping sustainable development. The speakers emphasized that while skilled hands drive industrial progress, many industrial processes inadvertently contribute to environmental degradation and climate stress.
“The workers are the true architects of our industries,” said the speakers. “But we must now align our skills with sustainability—so that our work protects both livelihoods and the planet.”
They highlighted that climate protection should not be seen as a separate task but as an integral part of daily operations—ensuring that industrial growth and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
Engaging learning and recognition
The workshop concluded with a fun and interactive session titled “Welders’ Quiz Show,” followed by an award ceremony honoring participants for their performance and engagement throughout the event.
The event was moderated by Md. Touhidul Islam, Founder President of the Bangladesh Society of Welders and Assistant Engineer at GPH Ispat Ltd.
