DNCC and DSCC officials are attending London Climate Action Week to present Dhaka’s climate vulnerabilities, urban governance challenges and resilience efforts before global city leaders and policy experts.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) officials are participating in a major global platform under the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group aimed at strengthening urban climate action.
DNCC Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton and DSCC Administrator Md. Abdus Salam are attending the week-long event, which began on June 21 in the United Kingdom and will continue until June 26, bringing together city leaders, policymakers and climate experts from around the world.
The event focuses on urban climate governance, emissions reduction strategies and sustainable city planning amid increasing climate risks facing rapidly growing cities.
During the programme, the Dhaka city corporation representatives are expected to highlight the city’s growing climate vulnerability, urban management challenges and ongoing initiatives to improve environmental sustainability and resilience.
They will also engage with global counterparts to exchange knowledge on innovative urban solutions and best practices that could help make Dhaka more livable, climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable.
According to city corporation sources, key discussions include climate adaptation, green infrastructure development, carbon reduction strategies and resilient urban governance systems to address intensifying climate impacts.
Dhaka representatives are participating alongside delegates from major global cities, municipal authorities and international development organisations working to advance coordinated urban climate action.
